RE: PLAN YOUR WORK-WORK YOUR PLAN

The problem with your model business plan is that it would create a road map which would lead to accountability.  Accountability is non-existent.  No one in any position of power ever wants to be held accountable.  Nixon’s administration created the term “plausible deniability”. 

  1. Committees supposedly are independent and present carefully thought out plan created by independent thinking persons.  A cursory examination of Committee will debunk that piece of idealism.
  2. Legal Opinions are used  to justify decisions but then two things happen.  The opinions may not say what we are told they say or the opinion is ignored and another opinion sought. This is course denies you and others the right to read the original opinion. 
  3. Managers – Several times I have observed very carefully crafted presentations which are well done.  Other times I have observed major expenditures based on a handwritten 5 word sentence with no justification. If it is a pet project, there is no presentation.
  4. Board and Mr. Winkel only rubber stamp when there should be open discussion and carefully crafted committee presentations.  I find it very difficult to vote for items that were discussed outside my hearing.
  5.  Examples of needed presentations are why buy all Golf Carts at one time.  Where does the $1million for pool liners come from.  What is the justification for the vehicles used as POV by Staff.  What is going on with the RETAINING WALLS.     And of course, how do we control golf course losses.
  6. The current business plan is very simple.  Money is not a problem.  Just continue to raise dues.

Bob;
Something to think about. If when Mr. Winkel, was preparing his January 2010 Budget & Business Plan, would have made the next click in the MS Word templates there would be a real Business Plan. I have highlighted several key components that would relieve the $2mil financial burden that exist if a Business Plan were implemented. Now here is the problem; how do we make Mr. Winkel or the Board think that it is their idea? It is easy to be critical of all the bad dictions that have been made over the years; however criticism hasn't solved any of the growing problems in Sun City. As you know, I do not put much faith in the Board Meetings as a means of expressing idea's; however is there any way of introducing a real Business Plan to the Board without ruffling their feathers (Ego's)? What would it take for you, me or anyone to get a Business Plan implemented?
